Matt Driscoll

With over 13 years’ experience in learning and development, I’m genuinely passionate about helping people improve themselves. My specialism lies in taking a deeply consultative approach – helping my customers solve their real-world business challenges. Having had previous success in operational leadership roles, I have the commercial awareness and strategic ability to deliver a significant return on investment that reflects the wider organisational goals.

Creativity is a core strength of mine, enabling me to design and deliver truly innovative L&D interventions that take the learner on an impactful journey. It is important to me that they feel energised so they leave the learning event feeling they’ve had a positive experience, and this is reflected in my approach.

My L&D career spans across a number of industries, including telecoms, healthcare and insurance, with organisations such as BUPA and AXA Assistance.  I have worked within start-ups and smaller companies, including leading L&D functions in a range of businesses that varied greatly in both size and operational strategy. Each organisation required a different approach.

Current role

My role is to help people enhance themselves and develop their untapped potential through learning interventions, which will have an ongoing impact on their career and benefit the organisation. For me, it’s all about the learner. I strive for people to leave my interventions feeling they’ve been listened to and that they’ve got as much out of it as they possibly could.

I love engaging with clients and building relationships, too, assisting them with specific requirements or problems they need solving. Taking such a consultative approach means the learning we deliver is far more meaningful and effective than it otherwise would be.

I coach on a regular basis, and I’m currently studying towards a Diploma in Performance Coaching and ILM Level 5 in Coaching and Mentoring. This enables me to support individuals at all levels with specific business issues, on a one-to-one basis, challenging them to change, evolve and develop. This is not only in a personal development context, but also in line with operational performance gains and often as part of a programme.

What I like about working for TLD

This is a truly consultative business. We are specialist in what we do, and it’s great to be part of a professional organisation that really focuses on the learner. Our work has direct business impact for our clients, and I’m proud to be involved in that – to see individuals and whole organisations benefit from the learning that has been implemented.

We are trusted to do our job, and thus empowered, which ensures the best results possible. We’re given the freedom to investigate new avenues, technology and methods of delivery within our interventions that support improving the capability and breadth of our offering.

Variety, challenge and the ability to be creative are all important to me, and TLD offers all of that – moving away from simply being a training provider to being learning and development experts and partners with our clients.

I love sports, and I love watching movies and spending time with family. But I’m always looking to experience new things whenever and wherever I can.
